Pantries

All the bedrooms (except for the family rooms, which are in a hotel on-site) have access to “pantries”.  “Pantries” are kitchenettes with kettles, microwaves, toasters and a fridge. They do not have a cooker. They are suitable for making snacks and light meals. Some people may wish to prepare hot meals at home, store them in the fridge in the pantry and heat them up in the microwave.  If you are vegetarian or vegan, and wish to share a pantry with others, you can indicate this on your registration form.

Full details about what equipment is available in the pantries will be posted here closer to the event, and will also be included in pre-event information e-mails.

JMCC Restaurant

The JMCC has an on-site buffet style restaurant.  One of the BiCon 2013 team members has eaten there, and her rare dietary requirements were understood and met. We will be working closely with the restaurant to ensure that all dietary requirements are met, and welcome those with dietary requirement to work with us to ensure this.

A full buffet breakfast is included in the price of overnight accommodation. The breakfast buffet includes various vegan and vegetarian options.  We are currently discussing organising special deals for BiCon delegates for lunches and dinners.

On-site “corner shop”

There is a small shop on site that sells basic convenience foods.

Free Tea and Coffee

As well as tea and coffee making facilities in the pantries, there are two tea and coffee making machines in the JMCC. BiCon delegates are welcome to serve themselves at these machines throughout the workshop programme. There is no cost for this! Be aware that queues may be long during break times. We only request that you do not remove cups from the building, and return them to the tea and coffee making area when you’re finished.

To find out more about on-site catering please see the JMCC website.

Food off site

The venue is near the centre of Edinburgh, so there are plenty of supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and take away outlets to choose from.  We will provide more details about these options in the delegate packs.
