Although the front page of East Coast Trains currently says advance tickets are not available, you can now book train tickets home for Sunday – just use the booking form on the left of the page.

The official finish time is likely to be 2pm, but remember to allow time for eating, goodbyes, travel to the station etc.

TransPennine Express also have cheap tickets for their Manchester-Edinburgh route.

Please feel free to use the comments of this post to share which trains you’re booking onto – it’s more fun than travelling alone!

I can’t go this year, but in case it helps anyone else: http://redspottedhanky.com is selling advance tickets for the outward as well as the return journey (two singles are cheaper for most routes).

  3. I’ll be on the 13.53 from Edinburgh to Sheffield on Sunday.
